Why GAF Roofing Earned the Good Housekeeping Seal

As a GAF Master Elite® contractor, Renaissance Roofing, Inc, is proud to offer quality roofing from one of the leading roofing manufacturers in the industry: GAF. The company’s commitment to quality led to GAF products earning the Good Housekeeping Seal.

What Is the Good Housekeeping Seal?

The Good Housekeeping Seal was created by the Good Housekeeping Institute, a home improvement organization founded in 1885. It started out as a “family journal,” and the publication, Good Housekeeping, remains one of the most prominent home improvement magazines today. While there are other certifications and seals of approval in the home improvement industry, the Good Housekeeping Seal distinguishes itself with an independent two-year limited warranty.

How GAF Earned the Good Housekeeping Seal

The Good Housekeeping Institute performs an independent evaluation of the products submitted to them before it earns the Seal. Today, as many as 50 GAF products have earned the Seal and have been found to excel in the following aspects:

  • Proven Performance — GAF Advanced Protection® Shingles were subjected to 185 different tests for longevity, durability and weather resistance, and have proven performance against most weather conditions. They’re less likely to require extensive roof leak repair. In fact, certain products are designed for use in extreme weather conditions and can withstand severe hail impact.
  • Energy Savings — GAF’s Timberline® Cool Series® shingles are designed to reduce solar heat absorbed through the roof, thanks to their reflective properties. With lower indoor cooling requirements, these energy-efficient asphalt shingles can help reduce energy bills during the cool seasons.
  • High-End Design — In addition to traditional and laminate shingles, GAF offers the Lifetime Designer shingles, which mimic the look of tile, slate and European wood shakes. These products create a high-end and authentic design with proven performance for a fraction of the price.
  • Total Versatility — GAF offers a wide selection of products that cater to homes across all price points, climatic requirements and house styles.

The Good Housekeeping Limited Warranty

You can think of the Good Housekeeping Limited Warranty as additional warranty coverage, independent of GAF’s own limited warranties. Any product that bears the Good Housekeeping Seal is warranted for the first two years in which it was sold to the customer (or installed, in this case) against defects. At Good Housekeeping’s discretion, they will refund the full purchase price or or $2,000, whichever is less, if the product proves to be defective within the said period. Good Housekeeping may also choose to cover the repair or replacement costs of the product.
